As a conservative Republican, I am running for the 1st Court of Appeals to serve the public with integrity and ensure that the court is guided by conservative principles and a strong respect for the rule of law.
I am the Precinct Chair of Harris County Precinct No. 472.
I am a strong supporter of religious rights.
As part of this support, I wrote an amicus brief in support of a juror who was removed from a jury for praying about his verdict. The oath that a juror takes ends with "so help me God." Surely, if a juror asks for God's help by privately praying, he shouldn't be removed for doing so. The 11th Circuit cited to my amicus brief (at pp. 42-43 and 46) arguing that the 1st Amendment's right to freely practice his religion was violated. I am very proud of this brief and believe it is a good example of my work.
I have been successfully practicing law for 34 years. My practice is primarily business focused, and I have represented individuals and businesses in many Texas courts and federal courts throughout the United States.
I have also successfully represented clients in numerous appeals in Texas, North Carolina, Florida, and in several federal courts of appeal. I have also represented two clients before the United States Supreme Court by filing Petitions for Certiorari. I have served on the Board of Directors of a privately held corporation.
